Devoid of treasures or things to say
I struggle on this Christmas day
To find the words that will allay
Fears we have come what may
And so with steeled heart of love
I clasp your hand as we rise above
The challenges bestowed hereof
And gift to you cast iron strength within the message of the dove
A GIFT TO YOU - SYNOPSIS
By Christmas, we were almost finished 8 cycles of chemotherapy. Ken’s baseline good health allowed him to withstand the punishing side effects. I sat in a chair across from him staring at the bags of chemicals hoping the poisons would recognize the enemy at hand. I felt the best Christmas gift I could give him was encouragement in written verse. What better messenger than the dove. After all, its symbolism traverses three great religions. It is a sign of good fortune, love, hope and peace. In the end, its hallmark release to the heavens is meant for all to reset life’s path with joy.
