Pity the man who suffering not see
Sheltered in life with wealth’s security
Devoid and inept of life’s empathy
Until he himself know adversities
Blinded by darkness and sadness profound
The soul roves about in search of daylight
To complete the persona still unfound
Only haunting pain can release insight
Where does this truth and happiness extend
Who will give credence, my heartache so deep
For at the day’s end, in search of a friend
Only the moon comes to soothe me in sleep
The answer, my dear, is in the moon’s glow
It cradles the sun, to you it bestow.
MOON GLOW - SYNOPSIS
The days following the diagnosis were arduous—blood draws, more imaging, and an endoscopic ultrasound guided biopsy. I felt a foreboding chill when Ken developed pancreatitis after this normally low risk procedure. Long days of chemotherapy and subsequently chemo radiation left only the night to restore my energy. For me, the moon’s glow was neither romantic nor the villainous setting of vampires and howling wolves. It was my friend that faithfully delivered me to the sun in the hopes of a better day.
