With the stealth of a tiger
It stalks its prey
Silently and relentlessly
No mercy its intent
It taunts its victims
With possible cure, at least delay
While quietly gnawing at the flesh
And siphoning all life’s nutrients
In the end it robs human dignity
Of a hug’s loving embrace
As fragile bones devoid of flesh
Grant only a gentle caress

The hidden irony is recessed in the mind of this writer. The birth mother although the giver of life, shared the same cancer that took life away. Hence, the pathos is complete
