Return to the Mountain

Strobe lights flickering through the naked trees

Tall dark shadows across the road advance

Enter the full sun peering through at times

All choreographed for a hypnotic trance

Muted with calm I course ribbons of road

Reach the iron gate that leads to my home

On command, ever so slowly, swings open its arms

A heavenly greeting not unlike St. Peter’s in Rome

At day’s end on the mountain top

This vision plays like Oscar reruns

A rehearsal it be for the future to come

To meet my love when life’s purpose is done

RETURN TO THE MOUNTAIN - SYNOPSIS

My return to the mountain in spring is a “made for movies” experience. The light flickers through the trees casting shadows and creating a strobe like effect. The climb to my home to iron gates that slowly swing open creates an image of welcoming heavenly gates. It has the same grandeur and awe I felt when visiting the Vatican. This image perseverates in my brain through the long winter until I return once again in the spring.
