Placed here upon this planet earth
Shared DNA and name
We nest in equal habitat
‘Til independence we three claim
To teach, to heal, administrate
Each path in life unique
A minute’s time across the lines
Connections we three seek
And then one day the trumpet sounds
Disaster finds its way
To one of three linked human beings
That left the nest that day
And three calls two “one needs our help
No time to hesitate
Bring strength, clear mind, and all the love
That you can generate”
As steadfast as the homing dove
The two of them head long
To douse the flames that burn the heart
Shared nesting ever strong
The message brought with olive branch
“No matter where you be
Know you can always count on us
Forever bonded three”
SISTERHOOD - SYNOPSIS
The bond of family is often underestimated until a tragedy befalls. In my case, two sisters of different strengths, one a teacher for gifted children, the other a master’s in business administration, rallied the troops when my husband, Ken, became ill. Although the digital world has allowed people to stay connected after leaving the shared nest, it is the family bond that drives the need for physical presence. I take comfort knowing that where ever I may be in the world, my sisters are my homing doves forever.
