There was a small Avery Jane
Who wanted to cover her brain
She looked all around
A panty she found
New fashion with two sided drains
THE HAT - THE STORY
Avery is my second grandchild and noted for her peculiar antics. At age 2 she was asked to put on a hat to shade the sun as we were going for a walk. Impatient with the search, she grabbed a pair of her panties and improvised. She enters this category at age 4 now. Her poem is written as a limerick because of its whimsical qualities. It follows the structure and rhyme pattern unique to this format although I did take the liberty of using a combination of iambic and anapestic metered feet in the 5 lines.
