The Last Dance

Contrary to the pulse of life’s heart beat

A fateful rhythm lurks outside my stage

No doubt a prelude to the end I’ll meet

Right now unseen although fully engaged

One day it comes hasty and unannounced

And couples with me hand in hand to dance

Pictured as a spintop with lilting bounce

Charading as a long forgot romance

But in the spin of frenzied dalliance

My willful heart regains complete control

And swiftly rescues me from death’s advance

Restoring rhythm and ergo my soul

With wink and nod, the pre death rhythm sneers

“Be sure, one day I shall return, my dear”
